Few words about the " Academy of Ukrainian Youth "

(Академя Української Молоді)


The organization

          The « Academy of Ukrainian Youth » is a voluntary youth organization that gives young people the opportunity to develop personally, socially, spiritually and culturally. Its aim is to motivate youth to be socially active and to realize their own goals as well as to promote intercultural learning, non-formal form of education, and voluntary work.

 
The aim

         As aforementioned, the aim of the organization is to contribute to facilitate the education and upbringing of children youth as responsible Christians and citizens of Ukraine.

 
The composition

          The organization is based in Lviv and is composed of approximately 50 members (boys and girls aged 6-18) and 150 voluntary adult leaders. It is also the information and support centre for the « Youth in Action » program in Ukraine (part of the SALTO EECA RC network).

 
The The different activities of the "Academy of Ukrainian Youth"

  • Leadership training, seminars

  • Leisure and educational programs (work with children, Summer Schools)

  • Social work, charity actions

  • International projects (youth exchanges, cross-border cooperation)

  • Publication of materials for youth leaders and volunteers,

  • Promotion of youth participation

  • Language, European and debate clubs

  • Cross-border cooperation

  • Development of long-term volunteering

 

 
Realizations

          So far the centre has already received a dozen volunteers mainly from Poland and France and has also sent 4 volunteers to foreign countries. Additionally, the centre has realized multilateral youth exchanges, organized 5 youth exchanges in Ukraine, and participated in many training seminars.

 
Weekly activities in the Oseredok center

          Weekly activities are organized by EVS and Ukrainian volunteers alike : European clubs, foreign cultures clubs, language clubs at various levels, and foreign-language discussion clubs. The center also hosts crafts workshops (for different ages), frequently visits the hospital for mentally disabled children, and hosts a variety of other workshops based on volunteers' initiatives (photoclub for children and young, film club...).

 

          The Academy of Ukrainian Youth also helps each volunteer to realize his or her own projects, encouraging their initiatives and providing help through contacts when possible.
